Foster dog number two has found a cat-free forever home. His new family came to meet him and took him home almost two weeks ago. We have just gone from Adoption-pending to Adoption-confirmed status. I didn't want to jinx it by mentioning it before. The retired couple who have him have never seen so much of their grandchildren. Boomer has company and kids to play with.
I'm never going to attain great wealth or stardom to measure my success in life, but I'm O.K. with what I have tried to do and sometimes achieved this year; in human and in canine terms.

What good news that is! I was wondering how things were going with Boomer's finding a new home. This one seems to be perfect, no cats and lots of children.
ReplyDeleteYou have been a true angel to these dogs. There is a special place in heaven for you.
I think what you do is great. Sometimes I think about fostering dogs, but I know what I am like and would end up keeping them all.
ReplyDeleteSo #2 has a happy home. I have been out of the loop for a few weeks. What of #1? Do you still have him?
Great work - and good news for Boomer and his new family!
ReplyDeleteAwww... that is just awesome! We just adopted a second dog and he has been such a happy addition to our family. :)
ReplyDeleteDave, yes I noticed you were MIA for a while there. Glad to have you back. Darcy (female despite the name) was adopted first, a few weeks ago. Boomer went to a home where he managed to catch the cat and so bounced back to me. Hence the importance of the cat-free status of his new family. If you have time, I wrote a post in October called"Five Hundred Miles" with more about the exploits of my canine chums.
ReplyDeleteJean, Thank you. It is really just an inability to say "No" to a need, if I think I can fill it. Keeps me busy. I do expect a bit of a crowd waiting for me, if I ever get to The Rainbow Bridge:) Do they talk of Rainbow Bridge in your animal world?
Kate, It's hard not to call up and interfere. I am determined to leave them alone unless asked otherwise.
Shattered, I am glad you have some dogs around. They are hugs on legs.
Hi ER... What's the expression ? Every dog has his day ? Guess Boomer just had his... fantastic !!! And hopefully that should remove a little bone of contention from between you and the gentleman you share your home with ? Oh yeah, and you said, "I'm never going to attain great wealth or stardom to measure my success in life"... but heck, as far as I'm concerned, anybody who can name their blog "Where's My Effing Pony" is a star in my book... and I suspect I'm not alone in thinking that...
ReplyDeletePS Happy Thanksgiving to you both, and to all the other int'l flotsam who may be around !
PPS Did you notice GG just came back online today at Not Waving but Drowning ? Enfin...
Owen, there you go with the positive reinforcement treat training again; I'm woofing and wagging my tail as I write this. Hubby was just getting into having the big furry monster as part of the family. Don't worry, there will be others... (snicker). I saw GG was back, with a broken wing. Dave dropped by too. Magpie is back intermittently. I missed her as well. The blogworld has re-stabilized for now, after some recent turmoil. My trifle is partially made and my turkey is all seasoned and ready to roast. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Boomer and you. And I second Owen's reason for star status for you.
ReplyDelete"Boomer" What a great name for a dog. I have two masel, and I coudn't be without them.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you could hang on to Boomer until he found a good and permanent home. You should be mentioned in dispatches for services to the doggie world. (I have been wondering how this story would end but have very carefully refrained from asking)
ReplyDeleteWoof, woof. No effing pony but lots of effing dogs. Our two spaniels are great company. And if it weren't for them, I wouldn't get out and about in the countryside like I do.
ReplyDeleteDeborah, very kind.
ReplyDeleteJimmy, no credit to me, the dog came with the name. It did suit him.
Friko, I never give up on a person, beast or task.
Maddie, I have been walk-less since Boomer went. I had twisted my ankle over two months ago and it never healed due to the miles it was required to put up with daily. The ankle is in a brace now and I was told by the doctor to "sit and stay" for three weeks.
Happy for you both, but not as happy as your husband I'll bet. Haa hahaha
ReplyDeleteWhat excellent news!
ReplyDelete@eloh, Happy-Schmappy, not a factor.
ReplyDeleteTrudi, yup! Thanks
excellent news! *raises a glass for the boy

So glad for all of you! In my opinion, saving animals means you're the wealthiest of all - in the areas that matter. Kudos to you.
