Let us ride together, Blowing mane and hair, Careless of the weather, Miles ahead of care, Ring of hoof and snaffle, Swing of waist and hip, Trotting down the twisted road With the world let slip. Anonymous riding song.
OK, California girl, you don't have to rub it in. Any potential flowers here in my part of NJ are under nearly a foot of snow...and two feet of snow farther south.
Jean, The one thing you really have us beaten on is bugs. We hardly get any...ever... (I am now ducking and running for cover) BTW the iris are from guerrilla gardening and have been moved, separated, potted and now planted in their third home.
Our camelias were burned by the unusually cold weather. I have a really large red and a row of eight delicate pink.... all burned by the sustained freezing temps.
Hey! What season are you in up there? I'm in a flannel nightgown right now in Long Beach but I had to wear a hat in the cinema, in addition to my coat, to keep my teeth from chattering.
We are still in wet-dog season, I promise and now I've got a returned foster dog so I have two of them again. Blog-time or Dog-time? See you all around.
So it'll be Jimmy Ogre from now on? I'd love to read your description of yo'rsel as seen through your mind's eye. BTW did you know that iris are quite perfumed? There are lots of flowers that I have been surprised to discover are fragrant en masse. Wallflowers and alyssum are quite bold in numbers. (More info than you needed?)
Deborah, Yes. Boomer's new home failed him due to their health problems. Not his fault but I had to take him back quite suddenly. Searching once again for a match. At least my ankle healed whilst he was gone. I'm back on the walking plan with a beautiful collie for company. He wakes up a little earlier every day!It was full dark when we went out this morning.
If I were a tree, I would be a London Plane. I am gregarious but enjoy solitude. I am English in my heart and soul, but still have room for other nations. I have lived in six countries and picked up a French husband along the way. We have a wonderful, kind, strong-minded daughter who has become a "Human of whom to be proud". I am a magnet for the lost. I foster collies (and collie cousins and the occasional, accidental, cat or crow). Those I have saved have saved me in return. I notice the world around me and often talk to strangers. Traveling alone is interesting, liberating and fulfilling. I am good at most things that I undertake but have few formal qualifications. I am able to have and treasure friends with whom I disagree about almost everything. My life is not over. Who knows where I am headed?
A ponyism is one of Life's Truths perceived from the perspective of an Effing Pony: - Life's a Bluff! - Those who aspire to make their mark on this world must expect to scrape some skin on the walls of experience. - The greatest value of money is as the currency of Hope.
- To be an Ass or an Asset, that is the question?
-Selective memory is but the first step on the path to magical thinking.
-Not all Baggage comes with wheels. -When your hero is a horse you are less likely to be disappointed than were he a human.
-Unfortunately, great wealth does not always equate with class.
-A dick, surrounded by puppies, remains a dick. -What better antidote to evil than kittens? -Any time you have something heavy, ready to drop, your cat will sit right below and look up at you.
Wow. This is northern California right now? You've got Provence beat.
ReplyDeleteYou can't mean that; you are having a laugh, aren't you? Beats my sad little snowdrops into a cocked hat.
ReplyDeleteWe have nothing here yet, nothing.

ReplyDeleteStop showing off! *VBWG, LOL and all that!*
The flowers are gorgeous, by the way.
Deborah, the Mimosas are later than usual this year though and you will have nightingales in Provence, in May, which are not to be found here at all.
ReplyDeleteFriko, I loved your snowdrop pictures. They brought back memories of an English childhood.
ReplyDelete@eloh, No camelias? In The South?

ReplyDeleteWaiting for the jonquils....

ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers, naturally!
If only. Mind you we've got a few snowdrops in the garden... so it's not too far off.
ReplyDeleteAre we there yet? No, but we live in hope!
ReplyDeleteWe are still waiting for the grass to grow here... there's no sign of Spring here until at least the end of April, lol!
ReplyDeleteWow! My iris haven't even thought of peeking out yet. What a lucky girl you are! I love the red one, BTW...

ReplyDeleteAs camp as it may seem, even an ogre like masel can appreciate the real beauty of nature.

Oops. Returned foster dog? Not one of those lovely collies?
