I am, usually, a vigorous and sturdy walker. The neighbors are used to me striding along, rain or shine, with or without canine accompaniment. This morning was my second foray outdoors since the doctors removed my appendix. I was overtaken by an older lady, who walks with a cane. I felt like so much flotsam, bobbing in the wake of her battleship-grey haired passage. In no time at all her rolling gait had carried her into the distance, She was off to have her coffee at the golf club and I know there are eighty-five steps down and then back up. Equivalent to a trip to the moon for me today. Luckily, I didn't have to go far to enjoy a little color in the world around me.
I'll bet you'll be out barrelling around in no time, and on horseback again soon too...
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. When I had abdominal surgery, exercise was a real chore. On the plus side, however, since you were fit before the surgery, I think you are going to recover super quickly.
ReplyDeleteJust take you time with yourself and be patient.
You'll recover quickly, but it does take time. At least you had some beauty on your walk.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very good sign. So what if the older golf lady walked faster. You probably made her day that she could meet her old cronies and tell them she scurried past you.
ReplyDeleteYou'll get up to speed again soon... one step at a time!
ReplyDeleteI remember how scarey it was the first time I got out of bed after a caesarean ! But besides actually proving to yourself that your insides aren't going to unravel all over the floor , you've got to get over the anaesthetic .
ReplyDeleteYou'll be leaping about in no time . Meanwhile , enjoy all those lovely flowers !
Heal well and heal slowly.
ReplyDeleteWe could do with some blossom up here, but the torrential rain is keeping me and the blossoms hidden from view.
The sight of these lovely blossoms brings quick recovery and you'll soon resume your 'vigorous and sturdy walk".
ReplyDeleteI've been very lazy about responding. Thanks for all your comments. I'm almost back to "normal". I briefly, and selectively, visited the exercise machines at Curves this morning. Stretching and friendly supportive women, all in one place, very healing.
ReplyDeleteDon't beat yourself up...Better to take things as they come and enjoy the bounty of nature.
ReplyDeleteBest to you!
