Blond Bombshell!

I came back from lunch yesterday and was surprised to see my business in "Lock-Down" mode. Brookie had pulled a Houdini and my employees (good thinking guys!) had lowered the big warehouse doors so that she couldn't escape entirely. This photo was taken today as she returned to the scene of the crime to inspect the damage. Yesterday she had hopped through the hole and greeted us at the front door.
Today is "Bring the Dog-Crate to work" day! Brook is crate-trained and stays peaceful and non-destructive, as long as she's confined to the giant travel crate.  She happily sleeps in her crate at night. She's going to be racking up some frequent flyer miles from now on, without ever leaving the ground.

  1. OMG!

That would be hysterical if there wasn't a hollow-core door to be replaced...

Hope Brook has a bon voyage!

Ha! Ha! Ha! I love the 1st photo. Where's Emma?

  3. Ms. Pliers, Emma was adopted Friday. (Story below). That's why Brookie is lonely.

Joanna, Who would have guessed she could do that? She looks so civilized:)

  5. I know a dog that almost chewed his way out of his house. The look on her face is saying, "Damn, I did that?"

  6. Stephen, Innocent until proven guilty? I don't think there's any doubt.

Birdie, And people ask how I can face giving them up after fostering?

  7. How did she manage to wield the lump-hammer without opposable thumbs?

  8. Perhaps that can pass as personality. Sleep, do nothing wrong, hang out. Or raise hell and get to hang out with the Effing Pony all day. Seems simple to me.

  9. Good heavens! That is one impressive bit of demolition, there. Poor girl. I can only imagine how anxious and unhappy she must have been to take such drastic measures. (Gee, and I thought my cat's scratching the woodwork was bad....)

Hope she finds a happy place sooner than later. She needs some peace of mind.

  10. Steve, you should know that a "Lassie" can do anything.

MJ, I'm just glad she didn't damage her nose. there have been several thousand dollars of vet bills over the last half year to get her healed up and presentable from the extreme case of mange she had when she was found. This is the dog I wrote about previously that received a donation of meds. from the pharmaceutical company.

  11. Jean, she feels insecure unless I put her in her crate, then she relaxes.

  12. Have you checked to be SURE that Timmy hasn't fallen in the well (yet again)

  13. Silliyak, The actor who played Timmy now has Beagles rather than Collies. He deserves to stay down the well!

  15. Poor thing...At least it was only a door. A friend had a foster that destroyed her entire front room.

  16. Kerry, I'm officially scared to leave her in the car, for even a few minutes. That would be a big deal.

    e, I can believe it.

  17. Maybe some armor plating on the door will help ?

Incredible persistence... "A" for effort, but "F" for civic responsibility...

  18. I am so glad that our dog, Socks was never into that kind of shit. Even as a puppy, he was tidy.

  19. Owen, every appointment I make comes with the need to plan for Brook. She's a great dog in many ways but I'll be glad to hand her off at the end of this week.

Maria, my own dog was soooo easy and polite, but I had her from puppy days. Brook was found wandering the streets.

  20. And I thought the scratches on my back door were something to complain about.

  21. I agree with the commenters that say she's got a guilty look. The first picture is very cute. The damage to the door - quite substantial.

  22. Deborah, I was warned she was destructive. This was the first manifestation and really is a panic attack more than anything else.

Duta, She is guilty, whether she looks it or not. I wish the door had been solid so that she would have learned a lesson. All she learned is that she can get out.

  23. So that wasn't a kicked in door that was a poochie chomping? Oh wow! How long did that take to accomplish?

Thank goodness for crates oh and pens.

  24. Ellen, One hour was all it took. Some very determined clawing, I think. She can also dismantle the wire cage enough to get out. Frenzy may be her new name.
