Life is Good!

"Life is Good" is what Frankie's T-shirt says. This sweet girl wags her tail whenever she has the strength to get up and move around. She smiles and snuggles up to everyone she sees, canine or human. Although her skin is still hot to the touch, her fever has diminished and she's eating and drinking. She is deemed strong enough to start on her medication. Her two siblings began their treatment on Saturday. Donations of meds have begun arriving in the mail. We have pledges of about one third of the three hundred doses we will need.

    Brave girl.
    I can't help with the medication though I did ask my vet to see if she could do anything...answer...no availability.
    Fingers crossed for her and her siblings...and all the other dogs needing help.

    I wondered whether a compounding pharmacy could make the medication you need...

    I am glad things are looking up for Frankie and her siblings!

      e, we've been consulting with a couple of veterinary schools. I'll throw the question to them to see what they say. Thanks for the idea.

    Helen, thank you for trying. We are receiving supplies from many sources. There are animal lovers everywhere checking the back shelves of the stores/pharmacies they work in and others sending in tablets that were left over when their companion animals passed away. This has us in tears, as often as not.
    As to the Mama dog, we have a well documented case of neglect to hand over to animal control. The plan is that they will scare the owner with their first visit and we will offer money to buy the dog. That way she won't have to be impounded and wait for the legal process before being in a home. Once the dog is safe, the neglect case will continue. If all that doesn't work, we'll get the mama eventually anyway and the women's other animals will be removed as well.

      Got somebody who has 3 doses for 50-100lb dogs. Can you break these down into puppy-sized portions?

      Kerry, they are giving the over 50 lb dosage and yes, they can multiply small or break up bigger pills. Up on the right, above my Profile, is a link to Collie Rescue website.     I am so glad I only just came in on these posts. At least the news is getting better and their desperate plight is already lessened.
    Would Interceptor be available in the UK? I’ll ask Millie’s vet.

    Those poor dogs, thank God for people like you.

    Lydia, We have received help from several vet clinics, far and wide. I haven't been in charge of tracking incoming meds, just of transporting them to the pups. We have had such an amazing response. We're halfway there! I know that thank you letters are being written to everyone who gave us contact info. Thank you for spreading the word.

    She looks much happier ! Hope the meds continue to turn up ...
    As for the owner being a foster mother ? I'm not too surprised . Overworked and understaffed agencies can "overlook" shortcomings in what's usually meant to be a temporary situation , leaving already vulnerable children in a worse state than they were . Luckily schools often ring the alarm .
