I had to stop and take a picture today. For once, I saw my blue trees in a place where I could pull over safely. Not a very romantic location for such beautiful trees, but spirit-lifting eye-candy nonetheless.
So here you are, in the parking lot of a Target chain store; A good acre of asphalt bejewelled for a few fleeting days each year by several dozen Jacarandas in flower.
The individual flowers seem blue, but the overall effect is purple. What colour do you see?
Mauve!
ReplyDeleteI see Purple Haze... as in :
ReplyDeletePurple haze all in my brain
Lately things just dont seem the same
Actin funny, but I dont know why
scuse me while I kiss the sky
Purple haze all around
Dont know if Im comin up or down
Am I happy or in misery?
What ever it is, that girl put a spell on me
:D
Pretty pictures. It is an oddly muted violet for being blue up close.
ReplyDeleteI see violet, but it is a very bluish violet. One of those Crayola crayon colors: Blue Violet or Lavender Blue? Looked up the Jacaranda and apparently it only grows in warm climates, so that explains why I have never seen one before.
ReplyDeleteInteresting, as the close up of the blossoms look a bit like my rhododendron in shape.
Lavender Blue, maybe. Purple Haze works too, as does Mauve and Muted Violet.
ReplyDeletegently wafting violet misted sweeties.... or something.... (or that could be because I'm still a bit tiddlee from last night....)..
ReplyDeleteWell, there is just the name for this colour in my native language and it's "wrzosowy". It comes from a plant of that colour (http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrzos)
