Just to set the scene, this is a repeat of a photo of Slinkie, posted in January, which Lydia aptly entitled "I see an axe murderer!"
This is Abbey's version of "If I can't see you, then you can't see me"
Abbey's never seen a Cat-Cricket before.
Cat-Cricket says "Oh, Get over yourself, already!"
Cats. The most superior species on the planet.
ReplyDeleteWell that's lightened up my Saturday, thanks!
ReplyDeleteHello:
ReplyDeleteSince our own two cats died, the last over a year ago, we cannot resist anything [to use the dative case] by, to, or from cats. Slinkie is lovely and your first image shown here of him/her, absolute perfection.
This is hysterical. I love your animals, they are so funny. Well, I love your version of their expressions.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the smile to start a rather drab and chilly (9°C/49°F) Breton morning!
Bisouxxx, Kitty
Steve, In their own eyes, for sure.
ReplyDeleteArgent, It makes my life easier now that they can be in the same space.
Jane and Lance, You are new here so you don't know the "back-story", Slinkie is really my daughter's cat (allergic husband) and Abbey is my latest Foster-Dog. Everyone has to learn to get along.
Kitty, I've never seen a cat lie like this, on her back with her legs outstretched. I think it is a sign of total relaxation. Considering she practically left home for good when Abbey moved in, we're winning.
Looks like all is well in the current version of the menagerie in California... visibly all involved are getting along famously. What could be better than that ???
ReplyDeleteAny signs of a pony anywhere that you've been searching for ???
Hi Owen, I woke up this morning feeling very home/horse-sick for England. Watching some of the wedding coverage yesterday really struck me what a horsey country I come from. Not just great horses in great numbers, but matched sizes and colors and well trained and ridden. Dogs and cats are great but "they ain't horses". I missed a damn great fork in the road one day back when...
ReplyDeleteSlinkie's "posture" definitely indicates a rather casual disregard for Abbey's presence. Quite a remarkable change, I must admit. I'd have to credit Abbey with most of it as she clearly decided to be totally non-threatening.
ReplyDeleteGotta love cats. I honestly think they spend a good part of their few waking hours trying to decide exactly how to look "cute" whenever possible.
Jean, Abbey follows every move and looms over Slinkie, licking her lips. (Nerves or a desire to lick her, I think). Slinkie has just decided that Abbey is annoying but not dangerous.
ReplyDeleteOh, I just saw your explanation to Jane and Lance. I was going to ask when I missed the fact that you have new fellow inhabitants.
ReplyDeleteAre both just temporary lodgers?
There are both gorgeous.
Friko, Slinkie is permanent, due to SIL's allergies. Abbey came to me on New Years Day when the Oakland pound ran out of room. She was on the Collie-Rescue radar and I answered the phone-call and said "Yes". Her web page describes her as part Lassie, part Rin Tin Tin. We have to improve her reaction to other dogs, (fear-aggression with a combination of barking, lunging and tail-wagging, followed by shaking). This may take a while but we are making progress:) It narrows the field of possible homes.
ReplyDeleteThat cat is truly pussified. It must have been mollycoddled by humans since it was out of nappies.
ReplyDeleteThis looks less like detente and more like deliberate provocation. I'm thinking 1962, Russia vs. USA, but friendlier. And with lower stakes, of course, although perhaps not through the eyes of the principals.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree Deborah, and I want to see Slinky beat her shoe on the table. Try to get a video of that ER, please? :D
ReplyDeleteGorilla Bananas, Slinkie was raised on Marine Base Camp LeJeune, in North Carolina. She flew back to California with Lovely Daughter. SIL and the second cat drove home in a U-Haul truck. All kinds of deep meanings and interpretations to be found there.
ReplyDeleteDeborah, Initially it was more like the Moscow Olympic Boycott. Slinkie pretty much left home. There followed the Berliner period with gates between two sections of the house. Currently it's in French-Canadian phase of not completely understanding one another but living together anyway.
Kitty, She hasn't hissed or clawed once. There's an occasional pissed off "miaow", if Abbey won't give up on following her every move. I'll let you know if she takes off her shoes.
Brilliant, ER.
ReplyDeletecats are great though aren't they? I have no idea what they must make of us wierd humans
ReplyDeletePixie, some questions are better left unasked:)
