We were waiting for the olympic torch to go by in Heamoor, Penzance, Cornwall but they loaded it on to a bus so we didn't get to see it. Some of us were really dissapointed so my friend Ian Braithwaite, with cheers from the crowd, decided to do a lap of the roundabout with a newspaper as his torch. Excuse the laughing lol!
-------Above clip was recommended to me by my sister, who was one of those waiting to see the Olympic Flame relay pass along close to her home.
Hooray for Ian Braithwaite, a local hero no one had heard of until this day. I'd be prepared to wager that he rode on a wave of free pints down at the pub that evening.
This is a Cornish Moment that reminds me of what I miss about living there.
