Life is Good!

"Life is Good" is what Frankie's T-shirt says. This sweet girl wags her tail whenever she has the strength to get up and move around. She smiles and snuggles up to everyone she sees, canine or human. Although her skin is still hot to the touch, her fever has diminished and she's eating and drinking. She is deemed strong enough to start on her medication. Her two siblings began their treatment on Saturday. Donations of meds have begun arriving in the mail. We have pledges of about one third of the three hundred doses we will need.

There is, of course, a back-story, but let's just go with the smiles that puppies bring. I drove to get them out of an urgent situation and kept them for a few days until the rest of the team could set up foster homes for them.
We had our neighborhood transfixed each time we went for a walk. Four month old puppies, who had never walked on leash before, learned by following Brook and got the hang of it pretty quickly. There were some major tangles and some outbreaks of romping on various lawns. Much laughter.

I deliberately didn't name them and steadfastly resisted volunteering to foster longer. Brook goes back to her other Mom tomorrow. I have work to catch up on. I made a hair appointment for myself and I'm even going riding this weekend.
I started to write "If I see a stray dog, I'll let someone else deal with it" but that would be a lie. Fingers crossed that all dogs are safe and sound in happy homes, for at least a few days.
